Boost your immune system

Updated: Jul 9, 2021

With the current concerns about Coronavirus, I thought it would be good to look at some ways we can try and stay as healthy as possible. If our immune system is strong it can help us fight off infections around us.

The media is currently on overdrive, mainly because this virus is unknown so is difficult to establish how quickly it will spread. You may feel a lot of fear around this time, particularly with reading or watching the current news. However with a few changes to our diet and lowering stress levels, we can put ourselves in a better position to keep us less at risk of catching this infection.

When our body is stressed it can weaken our immune system. This in turn means we are much more susceptible to pick things up.

Try these tips for a healthier immune system:

Public Health England has advised us all to wash our hands more often

Try and stay calm and do things that can relax the body and mind

Get good quality sleep

Eat a mixture of plant based foods - a rainbow on your plate (full of phytonutrients)

Top up Vitamin C levels by eating berries and citrus fruits

Eat anti-viral foods including garlic, ginger, onions, turmeric

Stay hydrated

Do gentle exercise
